Five steps to finding your perfect bra
Overcome the problem of boobs that sag and beat the bra-bulge!
1. The golden rule is get professionally fitted. Weight gain and loss as well as breastfeeding can alter your bra size by several sizes so it’s invaluable to get regularly measured. Many high street shops that have a lingerie department offer this service for no fee.
2. It’s not unusual for some women to have one breast slightly larger than the other. The best solution is to buy a bra that fits the larger side. Buying for the smaller side can mean that the bra may be too tight and pinch.
3. When you are trying on the bras in the store make sure that you move around in them – raise your arms above your head, twist from side to side – a bra has to mimic your movements throughout the day so you want to make sure it’s not going to ride up and that the straps won’t slip.
4. Always try a bra on with a top to see how well it sits underneath it. Also, some brands will have slightly different size fittings so trying a bra on in the shop rather than just taking something off the rails which is in the size you usually wear is certainly worth it. In one brand you might find you’re a little bigger or smaller than the usual size.
5. Heavily decorated bras are particularly bad for giving a smooth line under clothes, however pretty they are.
