Get a-head
A new hair do is a great way to reinvent an outfit.
• Big and bold headbands are easy to pull together from old ribbons and beads that come with spare buttons etc on new outfits.
• Spruce up old scarves OR fold an eye-catching piece of cloth.
• A great trilby or beret can really make an outfit, and can be as fab with a dress as with a winter coat.
Dress exchange
If your wardrobe is hiding a few good-condition designer pieces that no longer do you justice, seek out your nearest dress exchange and trade them in for something fabulous.
>> Or try switching with friends – trade a few pieces between you for a whole new look for nothing.
Summer all year
Don’t pack your summer clothes away even if they don’t work alongside black winterwear.
• Invest in a pair of colourful opaque tights.
• Dig out a bright cardigan to layer with tea dresses and simple cotton shifts.
• Add chunky boots for a very on-trend look.
Savvy tip
Revive your favourite leather shoes – give them a good rub with the inside of a banana peel. Wipe clean then buff with a cloth. Voila!
Pass it on – crafty retro glam
Make over your outfit by stitching a strip of lace from an old blouse onto cuffs, or take a short necklace or bracelet and sew it into the corners of jacket pocket for a feminine-boho effect.
