Our skin guru, Dermatologist Dr Ginny Hubbard, reveals the 5 steps to a spring gleam

Three steps to spring-fresh skin

Olay’s skin guru, dermatologist Dr Ginny Hubbard, reveals her three must-try tips for your spring skincare routine.

As the sun comes out and the days get longer, the effects of winter on your skin become more and more obvious – just at the moment you want to start looking better for spring.

According to consultant dermatologist Dr Ginny Hubbard, this is the time to sort out your skin after all those months of central heating and cold wind. Here are her three tips.

1. Brighten and invigorate

Come spring, skin can look dull and lacklustre – the dermatologist’s secret is to upscale your cleansing routine to remove surface dead skin cells and bring back your natural glow. The bonus? Thorough cleansing and exfoliating can boost the effectiveness of your anti-ageing moisturiser, allowing it to penetrate the skin better and work more effectively.

2. Lighten the load

As soon as the weather brightens up, lighten up on your moisturiser. A simple switch in your skin care routine from a cream to a lotion or serum will give your skin a satin sheen, as your skin doesn’t need as much moisture in spring time.
Ginny recommends: Olay Total Effects Feather Weight Moisturiser SPF15, RRP £9.99.

‘Thank you Olay, what a gorgeous lightweight moisturiser with a fresh scent of spring/summer in a bottle. My skin felt smooth, gorgeous and radiant.’

3. Shield from the sun

Don’t save sunscreen for your summer holiday. Make sure you use a moisturiser with SPF or a separate layer of sunscreen every day, as UV rays lead to fine lines and wrinkles – even when the sun isn’t shining.
Ginny recommends: Olay Regenerist 3 Point Moisturiser SPF30 RRP £29.99.

I much prefer to look after my skin than to try and master the art of having to apply 20/30 minutes spent each day putting on make-up.
