How to work the new up-do

How to work the new up-do

It’s the look that’s lighting up the runways – and here are four easy ways to get it at home

Thought an up-do was only for runways and red carpets? Think again. From the classic ponytail to the messy bow bun, there’s a sleek up-do with your name on it. All you need is a little expert advice, so follow our hair tips and you’ll soon find the only way is up.

Messy hair bows

Messy hair twists and bows are a great style to really show off your hair colour. Try an easy-to-use home hair colour with great natural tones and highlights for a vibrant look. Scrape hair back into a ponytail, put a section of hair aside, loop the rest over twice, then wrap a section round the middle to make a bow.

Great buns

If you want to know how to put hair in a bun, the most thing to remember is that prepping is vital. Apply mousse on damp hair and blow-dry to give grip. Make a low ponytail, twist hair and pin. Then spritz with hairspray to fix your new look in place.

The ponytail

“The new Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Volume Booster Spray Gel provides hair volume, body and shine,” says celebrity stylist and Pantene ambassador Danilo. “For this look, spray roots with Volume Booster while damp and then blow-dry straight. Smooth back hair with a skeleton brush and secure with a band.”

Sixties style

Shiny, volumised hair is what’s needed for this look. “Start by giving your hair a super-nourishing boost with Aussie Miracle Shine 3 Minute Miracle Deep Treatment,” says Aussie ambassador Liz Taw. “The unique formula, containing pearl powder, is like pure sunshine in a bottle.” To nail the 1960s fashion look perfectly, straighten your hair, part at the side and secure with a band.
