Brighten tired eyes in under five minutes

When the hectic pace of life takes its toll on your eye area, try these quick tips for a wide-awake look.

A healthy diet and good sleep will help reduce dark circles and puffiness around your eyes. But until you’ve had the chance to catch up on your beauty sleep, here are three steps – and three great products – to help you achieve brighter, younger-looking eyes instantly.

Step one: wash your face

First of all, if you feel more awake, you’ll look more awake. Splash your face with warm water and, if needed, use a gentle exfoliating face wash to get rid of dead skin cells, which can make your complexion look dull.

Finish with a splash of cold water to close pores and you’ll instantly look brighter and feel revived. Pat your skin dry gently with a clean towel.

Step two: massage in an eye cream

Using eye cream will make a real difference, both instantly and by fighting the problems long term, preventing the tired look in the future.

Apply the cream in dots and, using a dabbing motion, blend it around the orbit of your eyes using your ring finger.

Here’s how to find the right eye cream to suit you.

The problem

Dark circles

We recommend:

The dual-swirl gel and cream formula also hydrates the skin and works to help diminish the look of discolouration and even out skin tone for a radiant, healthy look every day.

The problem: sagging skin and wrinkles
We recommend: an eye serum. The best thing for you is to look for a light serum that won’t weigh the skin down, but will set to work moisturising, firming and smoothing the eye area.

Olay’s Firming Eye Serum RRP £24.99, for example, smoothes fine lines and wrinkles, and it hydrates the skin. With an amino-peptide complex, it also plumps up sagging and helps renew the eye area, making it look firmer.

The problem: all of the above
We recommend: a multi-tasking genius product. If you suffer from dark circles, wrinkles and puffiness around the eye, then you might think you need more than one product, but instead you just need a super hard-working one.

Olay’s NEW Ultimate Eye Cream RRP £24.99 is a 3-in1, offering a colour-correcting formula to reduce dark circles, it de-puffs skin as applied, plus it’s supercharged with peptides and vitamins to help smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and renew the skin over time, making it look younger and smoother.

Step three: apply a brightening under-eye concealer

For a little extra help, a light-reflecting concealer is a good way to cover eye bags instantly. Apply with a brush then gently push the product into the skin with your ring finger, without rubbing.

Add some highlighter to your brow bone and apply two coats of mascara to open up your eyes. Keep the rest of your face fresh and dewy, and finish with some peachy blusher on the apples of your cheeks and up your cheekbones.

This will help you look fresh and awake, even if that’s the opposite of how you feel!
