Everyone’s talking about…the new blondette hair trend

The new warm blonde revamp

Boost your post-summer locks with the right cut, nourishing treatments and a kittenish make-up look to go with it.

It’s the ultimate autumn hair problem: how to keep that golden summer gleam while repairing sun-damaged hair. Should you go for the big chop? Is it time to go brunette for winter? Do you need to change all your make-up to go with the new look?

Luckily, the honey-blonde trend – we call it ‘blondette’ – is the answer to your problems this year – and it’s a look that will take you stylishly into next summer too!

It’s a softer approach to colour – a darker, warmer blonde, or a more golden version of brunette, seen on the catwalks at the likes of Jeremy Scott, Yiqing Yin and Chloe. It’s all about glossy, healthy, natural-looking hair, with hand-painted highlights where the sun naturally sits, to give you that winter-sun look. And picking the right make-up and skincare will make you glow as dewily in the winter as you did in the summer.

Get the look

1. CUT IT

Whether you have long tresses or a cute bob, this look will work beautifully, because it’s more about condition than cut. The most important thing is to make sure your ends are healthy, so they take colour well. If you have dry or split ends, take the plunge and get rid of them – your hair will look thicker, fuller, and far more nourished.

2. COLOUR IT

Ask your hairdresser for warm, natural honey and coffee colours, mixed up for a natural sun-kissed look. Hand-painting the highlights will mean they can sit just where they naturally would when the sun lightens your hair. Keep the colour maintained with a specialist shampoo and conditioner such as Herbal Essences Ignite My Colour collection.

3. CURL IT

Don’t worry, we’re not talking corkscrew perms here. It’s just about a natural wave, so you can either encourage any natural curls or kinks you have using a nourishing mousse such as Aussie 3-Minute Miracle Light Aussome Deep Treatment or use a heat styler to create chunky curls and waves then fix with Pantene Pro-V Style & Protect Hairspray.

4. ENHANCE IT

This hair colour is incredibly flattering, warming the complexion, but you can help it along using a dewy foundation, a bronzer or peachy blusher, and a nude glossy lip colour. The aim is to look naturally sun-kissed and healthily glowing, rather than overly made up. Add a cat’s-eye flick of eye-liner and a slick of mascara for a sultry finish.
