Make every day a Father’s Day

Make every day a Father’s Day

Being a dad is a 24/7 job, so don’t just save your special thoughts for one day of the year – show him you love him with these little everyday ways to say ‘thank you dad’

Even if you’ve exhausted all your most ingenious present-buying ideas on his birthday, Father’s Day and at Christmas, there are plenty of other ways to show your dad how much you appreciate him day in day out – and none of them involve buying golf ball shaped soaps or sports autobiographies he’s never going to read!

Homemade sweets

Fudge, cookies, peppermint creams – little treats are much easier to make than you think. Try rocky road bites: melted chocolate, with a handful of mini marshmallows and either sultanas or chopped nuts stirred in, then spooned out in little clusters on greased proof paper and allowed to cool into yummy nibbles. Ready in 30 minutes.

Drivetime CD

Put together a playlist of your dad’s favourite music and burn him a CD to play in the car. Make a cover for it by printing off a favourite photo of the both of you then handwrite the track listing inside for a personal touch.

Family frames

Why not dig out a lovely old photograph of you and your dad that recalls a happy memory, and get it printed up to fit in a new frame? Or find three photos – one of him when he was young with his own dad, one of him with you when you were little, and one of you both now, then put these together in a three-picture frame?

Makeover his computer

Next time you’re home, sneak onto his computer and makeover his screen with a message or a funny photo you know will raise a smile.

Movie night

If you see a DVD of a film you know your dad would love, instead of just wrapping it and giving it to him, why not bring bag of popcorn home too and watch it together.

Cook supper

Parents can be notoriously tricky to take out for a meal – this place is too expensive, that place doesn’t cook steak as they like it… Pick a night when you know he’ll be free, then surprise your dad by cooking his favourite dish and getting friends or family round to share it. Make him feel loved every morning

Be part of your dad’s everyday routine by getting him a pack of his favourite Gillette Fusion ProGlide razors or some Gillette Series shave gel. It’s a small everyday gift that will leave him feeling good… and help him look his best every day! And why not check out our 10 other bathroom must-haves every dad needs?

Get the kids busy, too

While you’re sending out your love and appreciation to your dad, don’t forget the kids can do the same for their daddy or grandpa. Rainy days are perfect for making bookmarks or decorating a shoebox for all those messy essentials that roll around in the boot of the car. Or why not get the kids to sing something into your phone that you can email him as a new ringtone for his mobile?
