The sweet smell of success for winner Joanne

Mum Joanne won a family break to Center Parcs by sharing her special way of helping her daughter make the tricky step up to secondary school.

When Good To Know magazine held a competition asking its readers about the ordinary things that make an extraordinary impact on their lives, Joanne Bowen revealed how the familiar scent of Bold Lavender had helped her daughter, Shanine to settle in to secondary school.

We loved how something as simple as a familiar smell can make someone feel a little less vulnerable, and chose the Bowen family as winners of an activity break to Sherwood Forest Center Parcs, Nottinghamshire.

Joanne and her husband Will were delighted with their cosy woodland cabin. Shanine (now 12) and her brothers, Jacob (13) and Joseph (16), loved opening the curtains and seeing trees and wildlife right on their doorstep. And there was so much to do, from mountain-biking to luxurious dips in the Subtropical Swimming Paradise. And another of the highlights – literally – was the high wire, which gave the kids a real thrill.

Extraordinary results – Everyday Effect
