In the car today on the way to school, the chat was all about the Olympics. Evie wants to be a skater because of the sparkly outfits. Fair enough.

Tom wants to be “the one that goes down the hill very fast” (covers most things).

“Can we REALLY be in the Olympics when we’re older?” they asked.

“Of course you can,” I said.

And then I watched him run off to the playground, stumble over his own feet, proceed to fall off the slide and trip into the sandpit. Maybe not the most co-ordinated of children...

Yes, there’s work to do but if he still wants to be at the Olympics, I will be there every step of the way. We all need dreams, however big or small. And every journey, whether it leads to the Olympics or not, starts with a few words of encouragement from their Mum.
