Life's a Rollercoaster

Millie, Badly Drawn Mum

Highs and lows, that’s what life is made of. Take today for example.

High - I started on my new veg patch. I got Dave to knock me up a couple of raised beds, like the ones you see in weekend papers (being married to a carpenter has its advantages!)

Low - NBF Helen popped over and admired my work:

HELEN: I’m growing kohlrabi and cavalo nero. What about you?
ME: Um, carrots... (weakly) they are the UK’s number one veg!

High - Tom and Evie got involved. I believe I’m breeding hardy, country types, who’ll be smoking their own salmon by the time they hit their teens.

Low - Evie spent the whole time alternately rolling in the mud. Tom plucked out all the seeds I’d so carefully planted and, once indoors, handed them to me with a huge smile on his face.

High - They both ended up covered head to toe in muck, which child-rearing manuals say is A Good Thing.

Low - And this Friday night I’ll be washing their clothes.

High - Wouldn’t have it any other way.
