True Fibs

Millie, Badly Drawn Mum

Dave’s favourite game at the moment is trying to convince Evie and Tom falsehoods about the world in which they live. I know, great parenting. Yesterday over supper he mounted a very persuasive argument for the world being flat. Evie looked unnerved, “But why’s the world round then Daddy?” This went on for a while and tickled me enormously.

I’ve been sitting here wracking my brains about what I was told as a child that turned out to be fibs.

  • Eating an apple pip will make a tree grow in your stomach.
  • Square eyes from sitting too close to the TV.
  • Eating the crusts of bread will make your hair curly.
  • Eating carrots will help you see in the dark.
  • If you make a silly face, the wind will change and your face will stay like that.
