Working from Home

Millie, Badly Drawn Mum

Evie came home this afternoon with her first piece of proper homework, to do “ALL by myself!” She went straight into the kitchen, got out her pencil case and started working. Am slack jawed in admiration. Where does she get this work ethic from? Certainly not me. I’m a last minute merchant. I can find a hundred things to do, OTHER than what I’m supposed to: laundry, phone calls, even cleaning the oven. When I had exams at school, I would spend weeks laughing at my swotty friends as they diligently got on with their revision before setting my alarm for 4am on the day of the exam to cram in as many facts as I could. (May explain the results...) It got so bad, that my Dad had to finish off a castle I had to make as part of a school project. He’s actually pretty handy, so my castle was AMAZING and WON a prize! (This is the first time I’ve ever admitted that... .feel slightly unburdened...) So am very proud of my daughter, although when I tried to tell her she said “Shhh Mum, I am working very hardly!” Know the feeling.
