Confidence makes the world go round
A recent study by head & shoulders shows a staggering 92% of British women have hang ups that are holding them back in their personal and professional lives.
Almost half of those who took part in the survey believed they would be further in their careers if they had more confidence, while a quarter said self-doubt kept them from progressing to a more senior level. According to this survey, the number one personal hang up is worrying about what others think of us, closely followed by a dislike of being in the spotlight, a fear of looking or sounding stupid and finding difficult conversations tricky.
Interestingly, a new survey proved that women over 55 are more confident in body and mind than under 25s. When asked about their hang ups, work, relationships and appearance were all the focus areas for 18 to 24 year olds. A staggering 31% of 18 to 24 year olds admitted lacking confidence in their relationships, versus the 15% of over 55s. Older women also admitted that they’re more confident about flirting than their 20-something counterparts.
While 92% of women surveyed said ‘yes’ to having a hang up, the good news is that most women are aware they are their own biggest critic. 62% of the women surveyed said they normally exaggerate these hang ups in their own heads.
In a bid to help British women build their confidence, head & shoulders created hangupyourhangups.co.uk. Now we’re on a mission to get women to hang up their hang ups for good and join in life with no inhibitions.”
