Keeping Valentine's Day special - everything homemade

Be creative and don’t forget that Valentine’s Day, even on a tight budget, should be full of romantic surprises from morning to night.

Romantic gestures

Start Valentine’s Day with a delicious breakfast in bed.

• If you are passionate about cooking, prepare a tray of freshly baked cookies.

• If you aren’t a whizz in the kitchen, pop down to the local bakery and grab a bit of everything, and put your love into the presentation.

• Cut out lots of little paper hearts to stick them all over the tray, coordinate with red napkins, then add a rose or tie a romantic message on a piece of ribbon around his mug of tea or coffee.

Valentine’s gifts from the heart

It’s not about the expense; it’s all about the thought that counts.

• Make him/her a heart-shaped bookmark out of card with a photo of the two of you mounted on it, or make a heart out of pretty paper, shaped with origami (if your skills are up to it).

A memorable and romantic evening in

End Valentine's Day in style and cook something light and tasty.

• You’ll want time to pamper yourself, so check out our suggestions for Easy recipes for a romantic dinner for two.

• Dress an elegant table with candles and dim the lights to cut out distractions…(Like the TV or that basket of ironing!)

• Prepare the lounge in advance for an after dinner surprise – jazz music in the background for dancing cheek to cheek, rose petals scattered around the room, massage oil mixed with your favorite essential oil…you get the idea.

Valentine's Day at home will become a memorable romantic date!
