Sleeping soundly beside your partner

Sleeping soundly beside your partner

He snores, you steal the covers. Surveys show that, in some countries, one in four couples sleep separately to get a good night’s rest. But before you buy matching twin beds, try these quick tips for better sleep.

  • Snoring: If your partner’s snoring is a problem, roll him on his side or wedge pillows behind his back before he falls asleep and keep nasal spray on hand for when he has a blocked nose. For you, there are always earplugs.
  • Early Bird vs. Night Owl: You wake to watch the sun rise, but he’s just hitting the hay. Rather than have one schedule for you both, set different alarm clocks.
  • Stress: It can keep you both up. Try to release the day’s worries together with soft scents and gentle music. Try the new Febreze Sleep Serenity Collection, available in Quiet Jasmine, Moonlit Lavender or Warm Milk & Honey.
  • Stealing the Covers: Use two blankets – one for you and one for your partner.
  • Firm vs. Soft: You love to sink into your mattress, but your partner likes one that is firm as a brick. Look for customised mattresses with dual controls or memory mattresses.
  • Children & Pets: Encourage your children to sleep in their own beds, and keep your dog or cat out of the bedroom.
  • Sleep Disorders: If sleep patterns are dramatically disrupted, then you or your partner may suffer from a sleep disorder. Visit your doctor to discuss treatments for insomnia, sleep apnoea and restless leg syndrome.

I've been married 15 years and have never slept in the same bed as my Husband, not even in the same room!! His snoring is horrific and I can't get any sleep. We do go to bed at the same time every night for a snuggle! But when it comes to sleepy time, separate rooms always. Works for us and we get great sleeps.

DUE TO ME SUFFERING FROM INSOMNIA AND MY HUSBAND IS A VERY LOUD SNORER SO ANY SLEEP I DO GET IS A BLESSING FOR ME I HAVE FOUND THAT IF I USE EARPLUGS IN BED IT BLOCKS OUT ANY NOISE AND GIVES ME THE FEW HRS OF SLEEP THAT I NEED
