Add some whoosh to kitchen life with a fun February challenge

Bring some competitive fun to the kitchen for all the family to enjoy

This month at Homesavvy we are setting a fun February challenge that is all about bringing some competitive fun to kitchen life by making everyday tasks an enjoyable challenge and encouraging the whole family to help out and get the job done faster.

Family life often revolves around the kitchen, whether it’s enjoying an evening meal, getting homework done at the kitchen table or just having a chat over a cup of tea; so we’re inviting families to create a fun kitchen environment and compete in a variety of ways - cooking, cleaning and restoring order in fast challenges. And here are a couple of ideas to get you started:

Simple scavenger hunt:

  • Get the kids helping with the dinner preparation and clean-up, without the kitchen being turned upside down with a simple scavenger hunt
  • Provide a list of utensils and ingredients you need for dinner prep
  • Split the list between the kids and challenge them locate the items
  • As they look for the items give them clues, saying whether they’re ‘hotter’ or ‘colder’
  • The winner is the one who completes their list first – plus they’ll learn where things live in no time at all!

  • Create a timetable for one person to do the washing up each day
  • When the chosen person starts the washing up, set the oven timer for 10 minutes
  • After the 10 minutes is up simply count the number of items* successfully washed up (to mum’s standard of course!)
  • Keep a tally of how many items each person cleaned and the winner will be the one who washed up the most items

* No sharp items for the kids of course

You can set up a colourful chart to keep score of who has won most challenges and perhaps even include prizes as exciting incentives to ramp up the stakes among the family?

Whether it’s a little bit more time to help with homework, time to read a book or simply to sit down and talk to your loved ones, being able to restore order in the kitchen even faster is always valuable. This is why Fairy’s experts have upgraded the trusted Fairy formula to power through grease and help you accelerate the washing up process.
