Perfect your bedmaking technique for a more relaxing, uncluttered bedroom

Find making the bed a bore? These bedroom ideas will help make it a breeze…

Let’s face it, first thing in the morning it can be very tempting to not make the bed, especially if like us you hit the snooze button and get ready in a hurry! But a beautifully made bed with fresh smelling bed linen has a dramatic impact on the way a bedroom looks and feels.

Here are few simple steps to creating great looking and feeling bed sheets and some handy hints to make it an easy task :

  • When you strip the bedding, always remember to fold the bed sheets. It doesn’t need to be perfect but putting them into the washing machine folded means they are less likely to crease and may mean that they won’t need ironing.
  • Bedding can be bulky, especially if you have a king size bed or bigger, so often the tumble dryer is the only way to get the sheets dry relatively quickly and without them taking over the house. However, if it does happen to be a sunny day then it’s great to get the sheets hanging outside so the fresh air can dry them naturally. Not only do you get that great outdoor scent, wind will help to get the creases out, you save money on electricity and it’s better for the environment too!

  • It seems everyone has their own method when they make the bed. Some stuff the duvet in the cover and hope for the best, others practically get inside the duvet cover to get the duvet in each corner. While there’s no one right way of doing the dreaded task, perhaps one of the easiest is to leave the cover and pillow cases inside out after ironing, then put your hands inside the duvet cover and grab each corner of the duvet. Then turn the cover over the duvet and give it a good shake so it works its way down the duvet – simple.
  • If you want a bedroom to impress, pick and tie a small bunch of lavender and lay on the pillows once the bed is all freshly made. Not only will it look pretty and appealing for guests but it will smell great too.
  • Mattresses, duvets and pillows can be pricey and if you have invested in some that are really comfortable then make sure you protect them for wear and tear. Use mattress pads and pillow protectors to lengthen the time needed between laundering and protect the mattress

Wash bed sheets once a week and use Lenor’s Infusions range of fabric softeners that promise up to seven times longer lasting freshness, so you can get the feeling of fresh sheets not just for the first day but throughout the entire week.
