Six stains your toddler WILL make (and how to clean them)

When you have a toddler, getting messy is part of the deal. But that doesn’t mean you have to give up on nice new clothes – here’s how to clean the toughest stains.

Everyone loves a new outfit. In fact, 80% of us say that new clothes boost our mood, making us feel confident and stylish.

And no one deserves that boost more than the hard-working mums of toddlers. But a lot of us hesitate over adding anything new to our wardrobes, especially when it’s so hard to keep clothes looking brand new – won’t they just get sticky handprints all over them?

It’s a common fear: eight out of 10 people say they get “first wash anxiety”, believing that their clothes just won’t be the same after they’ve been through the machine.

There is a way to keep your clothes looking as good as new, however – even after several washes. It’s all about the Fibre Science technology in Ariel 3in1 Pods.

Ariel’s formula is designed to clean away stains, protect the fabric so it stays in top condition, and to enhance it with a fresh scent that feels brand new.

So next time your toddler approaches with sticky fingers, there’s no need to panic about your new top. Just follow our guide to tackling some of the most common stains.

Mud

Kids love to splash around in muddy puddles, which isn’t good news for those trousers you just bought. Unlike most stains, let this one dry. Then brush off as much as you can.

Rub some liquid detergent and water into the fabric to create suds and then rinse off. Then finish in the wash with Ariel 3in1 Pods.

Chocolate

Your little one is so happy after their chocolate treat that they can’t help reaching out for a hug. That’s when you know you’re getting handprints on your favourite new top.

Wipe off as much of the melted chocolate as you can, then pre-treat the stain with liquid detergent, rubbing it into the fibres. Leave for five minutes before popping it in the wash with Ariel 3in1 Pods, on the hottest temperature allowed.

Blackcurrant juice

Isn’t it typical? The flavour kids love is the one that causes the trickiest stains when the inevitable spills occur. Rescue your new clothing by rinsing it in cold water to dilute the stain.

Then pour liquid detergent onto the stain, making sure you completely cover it, and let it sit for 20 minutes. Then wash on the hottest temperature on the label with Ariel 3in1 Pods.

Chewing gum

When chewing gum or bubble gum gets stuck on clothing it can seem like it’ll never come off. First, try freezing the clothing to harden the gum. Then scrape it off with a blunt knife.

Soak the stain in liquid detergent for a few minutes, then rinse off. Finish the job by washing the garment with Ariel 3in1 Pods on your normal setting.

Ketchup

Chips are the highlight of any mealtime, until wandering sticky hands start leaving red ketchup prints on your clothes. Remove any excess ketchup with a spoon or a knife, taking care not to rub it in.

Flip the clothing inside out and run it under a cold tap to wash away the stain from the inside out. Then pop it in with machine with Ariel 3in1 Pods.

Crayon

An afternoon getting creative is a lot of fun, until you see the crayon marks all over your clothes. Get rid of the stains by dampening them and rubbing with an ordinary bar of soap.

Then put the crayon-marked clothes in the washing machine with Ariel 3in1 Pods on the hottest setting that’s safe for the fabric.
