3 hot drinks you can make at home

When it’s cold outside, bring the coffee shop experience to your kitchen with these three warming recipes for delicious homemade drinks

At work or at home, putting the kettle on gives us the perfect amount of time to allow our bodies a quick break. That’s before you factor in the benefits of rehydrating ourselves, the antioxidants found in many of our favourite teas, and the calcium count in warming milk drinks.

This weekend, why not give your usual coffee break an added sparkle by trying a more exotic brew? The kind of amazing drinks you see on the menu at your favourite café, but homemade for a fraction of the price!

Zingy ginger coffee

Ginger tea is full of goodness that helps ward off colds and sniffles. But for a real treat, try this coffee idea – the ginger syrup adds sweetness and the cream and stem ginger add a luxurious Parisian café touch for a special brew with friends. Use ground coffee to capture a more authentic feel when making this indulgent treat.

How to make ginger coffee

  1. Make a jug of fresh coffee.
  2. In each cup, pour a teaspoon of ginger syrup then add the coffee and stir.
  3. Whip a large dollop of double or whipping cream in a bowl until it forms a peak then spoon a generous scoop on top of each cup.
  4. Finely chop a couple of pieces of stem ginger and sprinkle over the cream.
