Crumble is so much easier to master than pie. A perfect pudding for a child to prepare for the family.
Ingredients (serves 5 people)
- 4 large cooking apples
- Handful of sultanas
- 2 tbsp water
- 50g brown sugar
- Dusting of cinnamon
- 300g plain flour
- 200g brown sugar
- 200g softened butter
- ice cream to serve (optional)
Peel and slice four big cooking apples.
Place these in an ovenproof dish along with a handful of sultanas and two tablespoons of water.
Sprinkle with 50g brown sugar and a dusting of cinnamon.
Put 300g plain flour, 200g brown sugar and 200g softened butter in a bowl and rub together by hand until it looks like crumble mix.
Top the apples with the crumble mix and sprinkle a little more brown sugar on the top.
Bake on gas mark 4 (180°C or 350°F) for 40 minutes.
Serve as it is or with ice cream.
