What will the bathrooms of the future be like?

Sneak peek: the bathrooms of the future

You don’t even have to wait for some of these exciting advances.

‘Clever’ showers

You can already get showers that store favourite settings and adjust flow, pressure and temperature so that every member of the family gets their perfect shower in the morning. At the moment they come with a hefty price tag, but will they become commonplace in years to come?

Will we be more like the Japanese?

High-tech loos that offer bidet wash settings and heated seats have long been popular in Japan, and are starting to catch on in the UK. Who knows whether they’ll end up becoming the norm?

Streaming while you lather?

Would you like Bluetooth and Wifi for streaming social media when you’re in the shower? Or do you prefer to ‘escape’ for a bit? (And maybe belt out the odd tune!)

Smart technology for right now

Whether your bathroom is modern or traditional, one thing that has no place in it is unsightly limescale and watermarks.

Viakal boasts smart water-sheeting technology. This means that it doesn’t just remove limescale, but it protects your surfaces fro 3x longer than other limescale cleaners. Leaving everything sparkling day after day. Now that’s the sort of innovation we could all do with!

Any ideas what you’d like to see in bathrooms of the future? We’d love to hear them.

A heated toilet seat would be awesome but the ones I've seen so far look a bit tacky. Maybe in a few years they will improve. I do enjoy the occasional bubble bath, but much prefer a large walk in shower. So much quicker for washing the kids as well. I giant wet room would be my ideal

While I still want a bath for washing large items like duvets, I seldom take a bath, just a shower. I think baths are going to be walk-in with a closable door base, far more often in the future. The reason is that this allows people with less mobility to stay in their own homes. They may not have room for a separate shower or shower room.
