Never have another mad morning again – here’s how to leave the house looking polished in super quick time.

We all have those manic mornings. Typically, it’s on the day that you have an early appointment or meeting that your kids decide to sleep in and don’t want to eat their breakfast. By the time you’ve got them sorted for the school run, there’s barely time to shower let alone get your game face on. Here’s how to do it – and fast.

1. Wear an easy outfit

Don’t waste time worrying what to wear. Throw on a simple dress or jumpsuit – that way you don’t have to worry whether things match or not. If they’re plain, add statement earrings or a chunky necklace and you’re good to go.

2. Power up in the shower

It may seem like an indulgence when every minute counts, but don’t be tempted to skip the shower otherwise you’ll end up feeling grotty all day. Make the most of it though by using body oil while under the water and you won’t have to spend time moisturising afterwards.

3. Use clever skincare

With limited time, you need one product that really delivers, rather than faffing about with separate ones. Olay Total Effects Anti-Ageing Day Moisturiser SP15 is a multi-tasking marvel that hydrates, tones, smooths and combats fine lines and wrinkles.

4. Choose double duty products

As with skincare, using multiple make-up products eats into your precious time, so rationalise and use the same product on lips, cheeks and eyes. Opt for Total Effects CC Cream Complexion Corrector or Olay Touch of Foundation, a multi-tasking marvel that hydrates, tones, smooths and combats fine lines and you don’t need to faff around with foundation.

5. Opt for cream formulas

Now is not the time to be messing about with brushes. Keep it simple and use cream formulas instead as they go on a lot quicker. You can apply and blend them with your fingers too.

6. Pick red lipstick

If you’re really pushed for time and can only apply one thing to your face, then red lipstick is the way to go. It fools people into thinking you’re wearing a full face of make-up when you only spent three seconds swiping it on!

7. Skip the hairdo

If you can get away without washing your hair, great. Otherwise dry shampoo is your friend to freshen up your locks. Don’t bother with styling tools – a ponytail or Meghan Markle style messy bun is much quicker. If you must wash your hair, wrap it in a microfibre towel – this should get it dry while you do your make-up.

8. Always keep your bag prepped

The last thing you need when you’re in a hurry is to waste precious time hunting for your keys or tracking down your phone. Get into the habit of making sure your bag is good to go every evening. If you like swapping bags, keep the essentials in a pouch that you can easily transfer from one to another.

9. Eat on the run

If you don’t have time to sit down and eat some cereal or toast, then don’t lose out on the nutritional benefits of breakfast completely. Grab a banana or cereal bar that you can eat while you’re on the move. It’s not a great habit to get into long term, but once in a while won’t hurt.

10. Don’t rush it

It sounds counterintuitive, but take your time otherwise you’re likely to make mistakes or forget something and end up having to go over things twice. Think slow and steady, and remember ‘more haste, less speed’.
