You're taking a break from the routine, so can you cut down your beauty regime too? Try these tips for looking great without the fuss on holiday.

It's that time of life when your kids are older and don't need watching all the time on holiday - in fact, half the time they're happy to disappear out of sight altogether.

That means you can finally start to relax on holiday the way you've always wanted to, stretching out on the sun lounger for as long as you like.

So now you've freed up some time, the last thing you want to do is spend it all on your beauty routine, stuck inside juggling lotions and potions during the best part of the day.

A little preparation means you can streamline your regime without compromising on the sun-kissed look you want. Take a look at our top tips.

Leave the mascara at home

Don't waste valuable beach time working on your eye make-up. Instead, pay a trip to the beautician a couple of weeks before your trip and have your eyelashes tinted.

The tinting is waterproof too, so your lashes will stay looking stunning even when you're splashing in the pool.

Forget the nail polish

You don't want to be waiting around for your polish to dry while everyone else is having fun by the pool. So instead of packing polish, get a gel mani/pedi a couple of days before you leave.

Gel lasts longer than standard polish, so it can look salon-fresh right until it's time to pile everything back into the suitcases and head home. That means there's no time wasted on touch-ups.

Get a lasting cure for frizz

With all that heat and humidity, you could spend the whole holiday battling frizz with different conditioners and styling products.

If your hair is prone to frizz, give yourself an advantage by getting a Brazilian keratin hair treatment before you leave. It bonds with the natural keratin in your hair to rejuvenate and straighten it, for a long-lasting sleeker look.

Swap facial moisturiser for sunscreen

Protecting your face from the sun is non-negotiable. But if you're going to be slapping on the sunscreen, you can skip a step and leave out your usual facial moisturiser.

Instead, pick up one of the facial sunscreens from your favourite skincare brand, which offer high SPF as well as all that hydrating goodness.

Ditch the razor

On average we shave once or twice a week for ten minutes, and about ten per cent of women shave every day. That's a lot of time when you could be topping up your tan.

So leave the razor and foam at home and try the Braun Silk-épil 9 SkinSpa instead. It removes hairs that even waxing misses for a smoother finish that lasts up to four weeks, so your legs will feel silky even when your holiday is just a memory.
