The foundation for any great look is good skin. With a clean, clear base you can build a flawless look, or even go bare-faced with confidence.
It takes a little bit of work, but with good skincare and a little cheating with basic make-up tips, you’ll have the perfect complexion in no time.
1. Start with a deep cleanse
Think of cleansing as creating a smooth, clean, even surface to your skin, giving you an optimum starting point for applying base. Use a gentle exfoliator – either a brush or face wash – a couple of times a week to help remove dead skin, clear out blackheads and stimulate blood flow for a healthy glow. Also use a face wash daily, such as Olay 2-in-1 Hydrating Balancing Face Wash, to cleanse and tone your skin. By doing this you’ll need less base as your skin will gradually look better bare.
2. Add a serum to your skincare routine
Serums are a great way of getting a high dose of targeted anti-ageing ingredients that work with your moisturiser to give your skin an extra boost. Just apply after cleansing and before you put on a moisturising cream. Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum has an exclusive amino-peptide complex to help soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving you with visibly firmer, more elastic skin.
3. Conceal to reveal
The secret to bare-skin perfection is to go light on base, so you could try applying a touch of concealer instead. Stick only to the areas that need it, such as the eyes, nose, between your brows and chin, let it dry a little, then pat gently with a ring finger into your pores. You’ll be surprised how little base you need, if any, when you use concealer correctly.
4. Bring out your rosy glow with blush
We all have days when our inner glow needs a bit of a boost: that’s when blush comes to the rescue.
Apply a subtle flush of rose using a brush in a circular motion on the prominent parts of your face: the apples of the cheeks to highlight your cheekbones, plus a light dusting on your brow bone, temples and chin. The aim is to build the colour gently until you’re happy with the look.
5. Eat healthily for glowing skin
Ensure your meals are packed with healthy protein such as salmon or eggs, which are rich in Omega-3 fats. These fats are vital for the health of cells and ensuring you have plenty in your diet will help your skin look its best.
Chia seeds are another great source of Omega-3: try them soaked overnight in milk and honey and serve with fruit for breakfast.
