1. DIY aromatherapy
Different fragrances can have a huge impact on how we feel. Make ginger tea with slices of fresh ginger, lemon juice and hot water, and shower with fragrant shampoo. Try an everyday treat like Head & Shoulders ‘Citrus Fresh’, which will make you feel good and make your body feel invigorated in the morning.
2. Eat for self-esteem
Carbohydrates, fat and sugar affect mood and leave you feeling sluggish – the last thing your confidence needs! Slow-release energy providers and foods rich in protein are ideal, eg yoghurt for calcium then eggs with wholemeal toast for fibre and protein.
3. Look how you feel
Wear clothes you feel comfortable in. Get a friend to photograph you in all your outfits to see what really suits you best and which clothes boost your self confidence Top tip: different bras work better with different clothes, even on the same body!
4. Love the details
For just a couple of pounds at a charity shop get yourself two or three necklaces to set off your look or transform an outfit.
5. Feel prepared
Go through what you need to do today, even if that’s just checking over your post-it note reminders on the fridge. If you’re feeling daunted by a task that has to be done, just stop and think, ‘What advice would I give my friend if she had to do this?’
