Six ways to make guests feel welcome

Few of us are lucky enough to have a dedicated spare bedroom, which means having people to stay usually involves shuffling bedrooms around, unfolding sofa beds and frantically hunting for that extra duvet. But what if you want to really go the extra mile to make sure your guests feel special? Here are a few little things that make a big difference.

Getting ahead
In an ideal world, it’s great if you can make up the bed before your guests arrive. Easier said than done when this is a sofa bed in the middle of the sitting room, however! What you can do is get all the bedding out though. That way, you can make up the bed in a flash.

Banish odours
One way not to greet your guests is with the lingering aroma of last night’s fish supper! A quick spritz of Febreze will work wonders because instead of just masking odours, it actually eliminates them. Febreze Fabric Refresher and Plug Ins will also help to get your home guest-ready

Extra toiletries
It’s lovely to have a basket of toiletries in the bathroom for your guests to use. This doesn’t have to be particularly fancy – just soap, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste and unopened toothbrushes. Stock up on travel-sized freebies from hotels and buy your own favourite products when they’re on offer.

Little extras
Sometimes it’s the small things that make a big difference. For example, flowers, magazines and a water carafe all tell your guests you’re really pleased to have them in your home. If you have one spare, a clean fluffy bathrobe is a lovely touch too, especially if it’s chilly.
