Has the grey and miserable weather scuppered your plans? Then why not use the chance to do one of those jobs that consistently remains at the bottom of your to-do list.
It'll feel really satisfying to get something organised, and you'll even have fun in the process!
Here are some ideas to get you feeling inspired...
Make a list of things you've always wanted to do or see then spend time researching where you could make this happen.
Narrow your search down to three places and then look into which option offers the best deal. By the end of the afternoon you could well have your next holiday booked!
Gather your make-up bits and pieces and experiment with colours you haven't worn in a while. Throw out anything you no longer like or that's used up, and put lipsticks that have nearly run out in a bowl in your hallway as standbys for applying on your way out. Organise what's left into pretty bags - with one for everyday make-up and one for special occasions, for example.
Also use this chance to wash your make-up brushes (something we should all do regularly, but, really, who does?). Simply swish them around in a warm bowl with a squirt of Fairy Liquid and dab with a clean towel before leaving them to air dry.
Among all the emails and texts, writing and posting a letter will really stand out these days and mean something to the recipient.
You could get the kids to help you create a card, or ask your teen to draw a picture you can write on the back of. Or perhaps cut some pretty wrapping paper into A5 sheets and write on the plain side. No matter what you do, the personal touch is sure to be appreciated.
We take so many photos and yet they just sit on our phones, rarely looked at. So take some time to organise your photos into albums and make a folder of all your favourites.
You could then get these printed out for photo frames, or put them onto a SIM card for a digital photo frame so you get to see a slideshow of your favourite memories every day.
Have a look in the loft for anything with sentimental value that you could recycle into some cool and unique home decor pieces.
For example, the board from a game you loved playing with the kids when they were younger could look fantastic mounted on the wall. Or perhaps you could frame a favourite record sleeve from your youth. You could also laminate old playing cards and play money to make retro drinks coasters.
See what you can find and get creative!
Use this chance to have a good old wardrobe sort, dividing your clothes into three piles: throw, donate and keep.
Try on items you haven't worn in a while, and see if you can team them with a newer item to give it a new lease of life. For example, that soft pink jumper you feel a bit too girly in could be given an edge when teamed with a leather skirt, or your old work blazer could look great teamed with a T-shirt and jeans for a smart/casual look.
To make it more fun, invite a friend over for her opinion - to sweeten the deal, you can let her have first dibs on your cast-offs!
